Today is a very sad day. Yesterday afternoon, Johnny Ramone died
at his home in Los Angeles. The Ramones guitarist had been
fighting prostate cancer for 5 years, he was 55 years old.
Johnny Ramone, born John Cummings, left an indelible impact on the
world. Besides being a Punk Rock hero, Johnny was a political
Conservative who cited Ronald Reagan as one of America's greatest
presidents. He was often at odds with the rest of the band over
lyrical content, and politics. But he continued on.
On politics, Johnny Ramone once said, “Punks should either be
Conservative or have no politics at all.”
Johnny Ramone will be missed. He was a man of honor. I admired
him greatly.
