When at last I'll meet my end,
As night draws a pall over me,
And that pallid grey clouds my eyes,

Until that day, at last it comes,
When this shadow that's my life is done,
Hallowed earth is piled over me,
And again I close these eyes,

When my last repose is done,
And I taste the blood of eternity,
And again stars shine in my eyes,
