"Love Gives Wings"

This had been a damnable day. But this was nothing new for Silas Reid to have to experience. Work was just a way to drone away the long hours of the day. The sun was down now, the day was done, and he was ready to go out into the flickering world of nocturnal dreaming.
But was the world ready for him?
Kyra walked this earth cold and alone. For her there was no distractions-no love, no need, no warmth within her cruel beating heart. There was only the kill, and the thrill of that abstract terror that reeked from her prey. Kyra was the sweet taste of Death's desire made manifest in the flesh.
She was ancient, older than all of the cities that has risen in this dark new world. Centuries had passed before her stark, ageless eyes. Their deep brown facets had seen castles built and fall to ruin on the Isles of Britain, as man had slowly ascended from some rough hewn beasts to the lords of the world. All of this had she seen through the windows of the soul, casting long shadows behind that painted veil that hid the truth of what she really was. And soon she would see that ruin come again.
Still that darkness falls, as distant clouded fires become a glimmer in the black. Night is the shroud that gives dreams their wings, and horrors their teeth. So are the glory of all things.
